The Summer School will provide the participants with an intercultural and interdisciplinary perspective about the main issues of development policies in different countries. Emphasis will be given to critical political options and to critical contemporary problems with a potential strong impact in the future.

Teaching Method
Courses will offer an active learning methodology with lectures, critical discussions and direct confrontations with experts and others participants’ experiences. Team building, laboratories, study visits and work groups will be woven throughout the curriculum.
Evaluation
Full attendance at the course is necessary. Evaluation will be based on a short paper and on an oral discussion. The University of Milano Bicocca will assign 12,5 University credits.
- Consciously realize human development as a process of building cooperative actions among social actors and creating coherent sustainable initiatives.
- Refer to international aid as a cooperation among equal partners in order to facilitate co-evolution and become a laboratory of innovation and education for social actors.
- Have an integrated vision of development and cooperation in the context of globalization, which is coherent with the UN platform objectives and with the Agenda post 2015 oriented towards the overcoming of unilateral approaches.
- Contribute to guiding complex processes of planning that involve converging different professions and different objectives of human development and linking local, national, and international interests.
- Analyze the potential of decentered cooperation among local communities and its role in local, national and global development
- Understand how citizenship rights are the central thread of local, national and international political choices.
- Analyze the relationship between economy and development as a key factor in sustainable production.

- Become familiar with an interdisciplinary approach tackling main issues of human social development
- Develop a critical approach about the idea of development itself
- Examine policies, strategies structures and managerial approaches of social actors
- Understand main challenges related to sustainable human development to policies and management.
